Occupation: Lawyer; Recruited a company at the beginning of the Mexican War (1846). His father learned of it and told him the Texas would be admitted as a slave state to satisfy big plantation owners in east Texas. The Anthonys were abolitionists. He resigned his commission. His company went and fought without him. He went to Kansas to practice law and founded part of the town site of Clay Center, KS, the county seat. There is an "Anthony Park" there. Had son William and Daughter Laura who married Statton. Another spouse was Hariet A. Huntress.
